2. If you live in an area with a lot of significant traffic around commute time, plan ahead to see if you can leave a few minutes early or take a different route so you aren’t stopping and starting a lot. 
3. Keep your speed between 55 mph and 65 mph on the highway as long as it’s within the speed limit – the faster you drive, the more fuel you burn.
4. Take your foot off the gas pedal and coast to a stop before applying the brake – just as hammering on the gas can waste fuel, so can pressing down hard on the brake. 
5. If you live in an area with a lot of hills and are wondering how to improve your gas mileage, consider keeping a slow speed while ascending and coasting while descending.
6. In the hot months, consider leaving the windows open rather than using the AC on full blast – the air conditioning can increase your fuel usage by as much as 20%! If you’re driving on the highway, however, it’s best to use your AC. Driving with your windows down at high speeds increases your aerodynamic drag and forces your vehicle to work harder to move forward.
7. Try to keep your ride as light as possible by leaving behind unnecessary cargo, as lighter vehicles burn less fuel.
8. Keep a close watch on your tire pressure, since underfilled tires can burn a lot of fuel without you even realizing it!
9. If you’re able, engage your car’s cruise control to improve your gas mileage by as much as 14%.
